Message from the Principal

What a busy May it has been so far! It is such an exciting time of year - lots of trips are taking place, including our Grade 8 trip to Montreal, Grade 7 trip to Camp Kintail, our Grade 6's went to the Outdoor Education Centre, and plenty more trips are planned!

Transition Planning - our Grade 7 students will be spending some time with the Huron Heights Grade 7 students at the end of May at Camp Kintail as part of our transition plans to support the move to KDSS for Grade 7 and 8 students in September. We have also had volleyball visits, a presentation from Mr Ozorio, KDSS Principal and lunch at the cafeteria, and there is more planned to support our students. For parents, there will be a Public Transition Meeting held on Tuesday 18th June in the gym at KDSS to update parents and guardians on progress.

Planning our Kindergarten Play Area!
We are planning a Kindergarten outdoor play area to the south west of the property in the area already used by our Kindergarten classes. Examples of some of the features we would like to provide include a music wall, outdoor painting area, outdoor blocks etc. Our focus will be on providing natural materials rather than playscapes to support inquiry.
As part of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, we would like to gather feedback and information from parents and caregivers to ensure that our designs meet the needs of ALL students. This will be taken into account as we begin to design the space.
If you have any suggestions or considerations to support your child, or other children who may use this space, please let us know by phone (519 396 8115 ext. 527), or by email (laura_stockland@bwdsb.on.ca).
Thank you for your help in developing our new area!

Walkerton Music Festival Success! A HUGE well done to our band and choirs who performed at the Walkerton Music Festival in April. Both the Primary and Junior choirs performed at Gold Standard, and our Grade 4-8 band at silver. Our Junior and Intermediate choir was awarded highest marks of all choirs at the festival and won a trophy and cheque towards the music program. The picture below shows the students who were able to perform at the final concert to celebrate their accomplishments. Congratulations!

Thank you to all of our amazing students, staff and families for your support of "Joust: The Medieval Musical." It was truly an amazing evening and staff and students worked so hard to prepare for the event. Seeing students excel in the arts is so very rewarding, and we look forward to sharing more of our music and performances with you at the Spring concert on June 19th. In the meantime, enjoy the photos from Joust below!
